Stair carpet cleaning, tread by tread.
Stairs collect oils and fine grit faster than any room they connect, and they show it first — a gray lane straight up the middle. We pre-treat, agitate, and extract every tread with a proper stair tool, detail the corners by hand, and tell you honestly which treads are dirty and which are just worn. $60 per flight, quoted in writing before we start.
Why stairs go first
The dirtiest twelve square feet in most homes.
The hardest-working carpet in the house
A stair tread takes a full footfall on the same few inches, hundreds of times a day. Oils bind grit into the fiber and normal vacuuming can't reach the tread-riser corner — so stairs gray out first, every time.
A tool made for treads, not a room wand
We clean stairs with a dedicated stair tool that holds suction tight against each tread, plus hand detail on edges and corners. A room wand dragged down a staircase just can't do that.
Honest about dirt vs. wear
Stairs are also where carpet physically wears out first. Before we start we tell you, tread by tread, what will clean up and what's permanent crush or fiber wear — so you're never paying us to chase something cleaning can't fix.
Simple, published pricing
$60 a flight — and stairs love company.
A flight of stairs is $60, landings are $20, and the hallway they lead to is $25. Because every visit carries a $140 minimum, most people bundle stairs with rooms — stairs + our $169 three-room package is the single most common job we do, and the whole walking path dries together.
- $60 per flight (~12–14 steps) · landings $20 · hallways $25
- Pre-treat, agitate, extract — every tread, with a dedicated stair tool
- Hand-detailed edges and tread-riser corners
- Honest tread-by-tread call on what's soil and what's permanent wear
- Dry in 2–4 hours; walkable in socks sooner

Stair cleaning questions, straight answers.
How much does stair carpet cleaning cost?
$60 per flight (roughly 12–14 steps), with landings at $20 and connecting hallways at $25. Every visit has a $140 minimum service charge, so most people add stairs to a room cleaning — stairs plus our $169 three-room package is the most common way we clean them, and you only pay for setup once.
Can you clean just the stairs, nothing else?
Yes — but because of the $140 minimum service charge, a single flight on its own doesn't quite reach the minimum, so you'd pay $140 either way. That's why we'll usually suggest adding a hallway, a landing, or one room while we're there: same visit, same setup, and the whole path people actually walk gets cleaned.
Why do stairs get so much dirtier than the rest of the carpet?
Every footstep on a stair lands on the same few inches of tread, with the full weight of the person pivoting on it. Oils from bare feet and socks bind fine grit into the fiber, and vacuums struggle to pull soil out of the tread-riser corner. That's why stairs gray out years before the bedrooms they connect.
Will cleaning fix the gray, worn look on my stair treads?
If it's soil — and most of it usually is — yes, it comes out. But stairs are also the first place carpet physically wears, and where the pile is crushed or the fiber is scratched, cleaning removes the dirt without rebuilding the fiber. We tell you honestly, tread by tread, what's dirt and what's wear before we start. If the carpet itself is done, we also install new stair carpet.
How do you actually clean stairs — same machine as the rooms?
Same truck-mounted extraction, different tool. We pre-treat each tread, agitate the traffic area, then extract with a dedicated stair tool that keeps suction tight against the tread and gets into the corner where the riser meets the step. Edges and the corners around spindles get hand detail. Treads are typically dry in 2–4 hours.
Do you clean carpeted landings and stair runners too?
Yes. Landings are $20 each, and runners — fitted or loose — are cleaned in place when the backing allows it. A loose runner that needs off-site washing gets picked up with your area rugs and returned, same as our rug service.
